A rich historyDiscover our background.

TThe Society was an outgrowth of a 1994 mission by The Archbishop of Canterbury to the war-ravaged and often overlooked Sudan. His efforts were rewarded with a strong and generous response from the global Anglican family. The Compass Rose Society was formed to continue and fund the work of the Anglican Communion Office as well as some of the international projects of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The society takes it’s name from a mariner’s compass, a long-time symbol of the Anglican Communion itself which, like the compass, reaches out to points around the world. In it’s 30 year history the Compass Rose Society has raised more than $17 million (USD).
